MOWES (Moving Women Est.)
Established October 2017
MOWES由Maja Ho 和 Kai Hsieh。他們都具有台灣血統，並在西方人的價值觀中長大。
MOWES is led by Maja Ho and Kai Hsieh. Both women are of Taiwanese heritage but grew up around western values.
They are dedicated to bringing people together to support, share, and grow as equals. For too long, women were forced to piggyback off of men's successes and men have had to prove their manliness. But today, gender roles are shifting.
More women are in the workforce and more men want a shoulder to cry on. MOWES is a safe space where anyone, regardless of ANYTHING, can connect, share, and grow. We bring people together from all over the world to share their stories, gain perspective, and move toward a more compassionate society.
MOWES is a donation-based community space for everyone. We are proud to have an evergrowing and diverse community that attends our classes taught by international and multi-lingual instructors. We connect Taiwan with the world.
We offer workout classes where we ask you to leave your body shaming at the door.
We offer language classes that are affordable, flexible, and customized to your level and needs.
We offer workshops in sustainable living so that everyone can have the knowledge and resources to be more environmentally conscious.
We offer art classes that inspire creativity and self-love.
We offer parents and kids classes because it takes a village to raise a child.
We offer educational workshops that talk about the importance of gender equality for high school and university-level students.
Through learning new skills and empowering yourself, you empower others. With all the resources we have, we give back to Taiwan's community. We help women's shelters and NGOs that work to end gender-based violence.
‘’I hope that all women may feel like they’re enough. Beautiful enough, good enough, strong enough. I opened MOWES because of all the women I’ve passed in life, they made me who I am today and
I want to pass that on’’
Maja is a Danish born Taiwanese who has always had a passion for human rights and immigration issues. Growing up in a tough neighborhood in Copenhagen, she quickly learned what it meant to be a minority. At age 13, she became the student council chairman and lead multiple demonstrations to improve school environments and create awareness about the government’s unequal treatment of immigrant neighborhoods. After graduating high school, Maja moved to New York to pursue a dance career. In 2016, she moved to Taipei and was inspired to become active in human rights issues in Taiwan. She opened MOWES in November 2017 and is ambitious about expanding MOWES nationwide within the next ten years.
"I want to empower women everywhere to speak up for themselves, their minds, their bodies, and their dreams...we are power. UNITE!"
